I have known Ian for over 50 years since I first met him when he used to come into the Dewdrop next door to BBC Radio Oxford with his parents after the station launched in October 1970. I have worked there off and on since and Ian became one of our most devoted and loyal listeners. Several of us went to his 21st birthday party and Ian was looking forward to seeing my colleague Al Ryan and me at his 70th next year. It was always a delight to talk to him and I have never known such an outpouring of sadness from other listeners as that accorded to him. He was a wonderful person....from Bill Rennells.
